2011 Family Pictures in Johor Bahru

We arrived at JB before Chinese New Year (Feb. 3, 2011) and moved into our Stulang Laut apartment after we bought some furniture. My brother also came back from Vietnam for the New Year vacation. On the New Year day, Kenny, Cherie and kids and Feng-lian came from Singapore to visit. We managed to find a restaurant open for business. At night, we played some fireworks though had to watch out the police.

2011 Family Pictures in Singapore

Cherie picked us up at airport on Jan. 25, 2011. We stayed in Sau-chong's place for a few days after 2 free night stays at Marina Bay Sands arranged by Cherie. Its SkyPark is home to the world's longest elevated swimming pool.
This is a rainy season. Sometimes we had big storms. We stayed in Jurong West and could eat in food courts surrounded by these Singapore style housings. The food is cheap, clean and delicious.

2011 Visiting 適耕莊 Sekinchan

We took a bus from JB to go to Kuala Lumpur. My cousin's son lives there and picked us up. He gave us a tour of KL and then drove us to Sekinchan to meet all other relatives living there.
I met my cousin and her 3 daughters, son-in-law and another son (Liang's), and my niece, her husband, and one of the 3 nephews (Wu's).
The next morning, we went to see the son-in-law family owned rice factory. It is huge and modernized. Rice fields are local attraction.
In afternoon, we visited Kuala Selangor and saw many monkeys. At night, we saw fireflies on boat. They stayed on the trees along the river bank which look like many lighted christmas trees.

2010 Ancestral halls 白石吳氏宗祠

Our first ancestral settlement was at Yulongtan (Fish Dragon Beach 魚龍灘) along the Huanghua River (黃華江) in the northern part of Baishi (White Stone Town 白石鎮). This is a very nice flat area, about 30 min. motorcycle drive from my cousin's hilly Dawei Village (大圍村) in the eastern part of Baishi. The first ancestral hall was built at Poping Village (坡坪村) on the east side of the river with the clan's name Yanling Prefecture (堂號:延陵郡).

Inside the hall, it shows the name of the first ancestor: Ming-cong (明聰) with wife Liang (梁 family name). The name of his second son is Guang-hua (廣華) with wife Chen (陳 family name). For some reason, they built the 2nd ancestral hall for Guang-hua on the west side of the river at Yulongtan with his tomb on the hill at the back of the hall. I didn't get to enter the hall because they didn't have the key.

I am the tenth generation and I have shots of our family book at my cousin's house. My Grandfather is Hou-ling (厚齡) and Grandmother is Huang (黃 family name, I will ask my Huang cousin for details in future). Hou-ling's father is Ru-xun (儒勛). Ru-xun's father is Shang-kuan (上寬).
My father's official name is Ng Piew (吳標, mandarin: Wu Biao). English versions of our last name 吳 are: Woo, Ng, Wu. My mother's official name is Lau Tai (劉戴禧, mandarin: Liu Dai-xi). She said she was adopted from Xie (謝) family.
